Why We Blog
In my English 101 class at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, my students came to a realization--if you want to be good at something you have to practice it. They all mentioned they spent on average 4-5 hours a week on activities they considered themselves good at, but less than an hour a week writing. Why? Because they thought writing only counted when it was for school. So we agreed to try to write more on subjects and topics not related to school. This blog is a forum for all of us to voice our opinions, to be heard, to think and, most importantly to write.
I like how this commericial shows how effective a seatbelt can be. It really made me aware of how a seatbeat can save your life in an accident. The main point of this commercial is to remind you to ALWAYS wear your seatbelt cause you never know when you really need it.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion this commercial is a definite over use of the film makers love of slow motion drama. Im not a big fan of it unless some people are getting their ass kicked or going to fight some bad guys. Also the faces of the actors in this commercial are kind of funny looking. :) For a moment i was starting to have an emotional reaction to the family aspect of the commercial. When the wife and daughter went to the rescue of the father I will say that it was quite touching but, the over dramatic expressions I did not enjoy. In this commercial, they not only advocate wearing seat-belts for safety sake, but also for the sake of family, their main angle. When the man in the commercial was about to wreck, the look of panic and worry on his family's face says it all. They also use a play on words with the "embracing life" campaign double meaning. Hug=Embrace. His family is "embracing" his life and saving it. they're using the whole "do this for the sake of your family" angle.
ReplyDeleteI think this commercial is effective depending on who is on the receiving end. I personally am not a huge fan of the cheesy drama family angle but, some people eat that stuff up. It all depends on which the viewer favors. I don't think this commercial was completely terrible, but I don't think anyone will change their seatbelt manners because of this commercial. If the commercial had a reaction from someone, that reaction would soon be forgotten when Spongebob or One Tree Hill returns to the screen
I like the commercial because it's not the usual boring "click-it or ticket" commercial we have seen for years. When watching it, I actually started laughing. The ending was so predictable. The main point of this commercial was to promote seatbelt usage, which I felt they did a great job of.
ReplyDeleteI liked the commercial due to it being the only one of its kind. Although I did think it was kinda creepy at the beginning with the family's constant smiling, I did enjoy using a 1:29 of my life to watch it. The main point was to promote wearing a seatbelt. (of course)...
